AMERICAN STEEL BUILDING CO., INC SIGNED BY DESIGN-BUILD TEAM OF SANTA FE $210 MM BUCKMAN DIRECT DIVERSION PROJECT
American Steel Building Selected by CH2M Hill & Western Summit Design-Build Team to Manufacture Seven Metal Facilities as Part of Waste Water Treatment Project in New Mexico

Houston, TX — American Steel Building Co., Inc (ASBCO), a manufacturer in pre-engineered metal building systems located in Houston since 1953, announced today the signing of a $865K contract with Western Summit Constructors for seven metal buildings as part of the Buckman Direct Diversion (BDD) Project based in Santa Fe, NM.
“We’re proud to be a part of such an important water treatment project. Once completed, this three-year portion of the project will divert as much as 8,730 acre-feet of water annually from the Rio Grande, treat it at a state-of-the-art facility and deliver the majority of the water to customers of the City of Santa Fe, Las Campanas and Santa Fe County,” commented W. Raul Arriondo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The long-awaited project will ensure Santa Fe County has a sustainable supply of drinking water once completed in 2011. “Our phase of the project starts with manufacturing the Flocculation Sedimentation Building and Advance Treatment Facility currently planned for March of 2009, with five more buildings to follow, ” Arriondo said.
This week’s announcement is not the first time ASBCO has been selected by Western Summit to manufacture metal building systems for their commercial clients. “This is the second Water Treatment Plant project we’ve worked on for Western Summit”, comments Account Executive BJ Jones. “After completing the first facility in Clearlake (TX), Western Summit was confident enough with our product and service throughout the process to select us for this critical role in
the BBD project. We’re really excited about such a ground-breaking project, and look forward to the start.”
